About East Street
Farm School
Therapeutic Education
in the Heart of the New Forest
East Street Farm is an independent special school pending Ofsted registration, providing therapeutic education for up to 40 young people aged 8-16 years. We support students with Autism, Emotionally Based School Avoidance and associated mental health needs including developmental trauma. We provide a “whatever it takes” approach to help every young person reach their potential.
Our Vision and Ethos
We provide a nurturing, inclusive and empowering environment where students feel safe, valued and supported. Trust, connection and meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to:
Build confidence, resilience and independence
Foster academic, social and life skills
Help students discover their passions
Work in close partnership with families and professionals
Our Approach
- Bespoke Education plans offering a highly personalised therapeutic learning journey, blending academic and vocational learning
- Small class sizes with high staff-to-student ratios
- Integrated Therapy including Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy
- Practical life skills for example cooking, gardening and animal care
- Outdoor learning using the natural environment to help students progress
- Supported transitions into further education, training or employment
- Neuro-diverse affirming approaches
- Trauma informed practice emphasising safety, trust and relationships
We support young people who have found education challenging and need a more personalised approach. To help them re-engage, we often begin by working in their homes and local community before gradually introducing them to a school place at East Street Farm.
Inspired by the success of MindSenseAbility, our integrated therapeutic model supports educational progress by weaving communication, emotional regulation and other therapeutic skills throughout the curriculum.
“If they can’t learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn”
